Two NBA icons have gone head-to-head in a war of the words on social media, and boy oh boy it was fun to watch it all unfold.
Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen responded to Shaquille O’Neal’s claim that the Los Angeles Lakers best team of all-time would beat the Bulls best ever by fifty points.
A picture has been doing the rounds featuring the Bulls’ and Lakers’ All-Time Greatest Teams, sparking a lot of debate as to which team would emerge victorious.
The Lakers team consists of Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, whilst the Bulls boast the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, and Derrick Rose.
Shaq started things off when he boasted that the Lakers’ team would easily account for the Bulls.
Pippen took Shaq’s words literally when he said “Don’t hold back”, reminding Shaq how many championship rings he had earned in Chicago, compared to the journeyman’s return from his time in LA.
And then, boom. Shaq put his editing skills to the test, playing around with the picture Pippen posted.
Pippen hit straight back, targeting a well-publicised weakness in Shaq’s game.
Shaq had another crack at Pippen, deciding to roll with his “sidekick” idea.
The comeback of the day as far as I’m concerned went to Pippen when he rolled out this gem.
I think that one stumped Mr O’Neal. The best he could muster up after that were a few attempts at comebacks that you would have to call odd at the very least.
Pippen didn’t respond to Shaq’s intial reply, so O’Neal threw two more barbs in the direction of the six-time championship winner.
I’d say the war of the words between these two is finished, at least for now.
As for my own opinion, I’ve got the Lakers coming out on top in this contest. And that is coming from a Bulls fan.
