A magnificent all-round performance from Sydney Sixers star Marizanne Kapp has helped her side to a 26-run victory – their sixth straight – today against the Hobart Hurricanes.

THE HOME GROUND: Read the full match report on the Sydney Sixers’ website.

Kapp finished with the figures of 2 for 10 (3) in a rain-affected match at Waverley Oval, but it was Sarah Aley that stole the show with the ball.

Aley finished with the remarkable figures of 4 for 8 (3), breaking the record for the best bowling figures by a Sixer in the WBBL, and the second best figures by any Sixer in history.

The players were greeted by a downpour following the toss, and it wasn’t long before they found themselves back in the dressing rooms after the rain returned in the second over.

The time lost saw the fixture reduced to 15 overs per side, and Kapp proceeded to play a starring role in both facets of the game.

Coming in with the side reeling at 4/53, Kapp blasted 21 from 16 deliveries to help the Sixers to 7/98, as New Zealand international Sara McGlashan anchored the innings with 21 (20).

The Duckworth-Lewis System revised the required total to 100 for the Hurricanes’ run chase, and it was another superb effort from Kapp that had the opposition on the back foot early.

Kapp’s first two overs swung the momentum in favour of the Sixers as she claimed the wicket of Hayley Matthews, conceding just five runs in the process.

Resident partnership breaker Aley then struck twice in four balls, before claiming another two late wickets to secure a comprehensive victory.

The Sixers have now jumped to fifth on the competition table with two games remaining. A Sydney derby awaits the magenta tomorrow at the SCG at 1:45, before a rematch with the Hurricanes at Hurstville Oval on Sunday morning.
